The finishing touches are now being made to Lawn House and in the coming weeks photographs of each of the rooms will be published.

The inspiration for the interior at Lawn House came from John Tradescant the Elder who was an English naturalist, gardener, collector and traveller. He began his career as head gardener to Robert Cecil, 1st Earl of Salisbury at Hatfield House. In 1611, at Robert Cecil’s behest, John Tradescant the elder travelled through the Low Countries & Flanders to Paris, buying trees, flowering shrubs, vines, & bulbs for the new gardens at Hatfield. this began a lifetime of such expeditions for Tradescant and his son during which they would introduce many hundreds of new species to England.
